About The Misbehaving Mutt

Bringing you dog training methods you can always feel good about.

Hi, I’m Logan!

We’ll get along great if you want to train your dog in a way that is full of joy, empathy, and enthusiasm.

I’m passionate about using positive reinforcement to help our dogs learn to thrive in this wild world. I love working with all dogs, but am partial to the ones with Big Feelings like anxiety, fear, frustration, and over-excitement.

Some fun facts about me: I’m a professional dog trainer, extroverted introvert, amateur baker, mediocre plant mom, and therapy enthusiast.

I help dog guardians just like you teach their dogs with a science-based, positive reinforcement approach.

I am a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP), which means I am certified through an intensive education program with a dedication to modern, positive dog training. I am a member of the Pet Professional Guild and am also a certified Separation Anxiety Pro Trainer. I have a degree in biology and am committed to continuing education in the field of applied behavior analysis - the field of science that modern dog training comes from. You can read more about my education and experience here.

My promise to you is…

Training with me will always be fun, compassionate, and humane. It’s not ethical to promise training results (dogs are living creatures, not robots, after all!) but I will promise that I will never make you teach your dog in a way that feels icky or uncomfortable to you. And we’ll never use a tool that will be harmful or aversive to your dog.

Here’s what you can expect from training with me:

  • We Will Use...

A clicker (or verbal marker like "yes!")

    Treats and a treat pouch

    A comfortable harness

A 6 foot (or longer) leash

    Enthusiasm and compassion

  • We Won't Use...

    Prong collars or choke chains

    E-collars or shock collars

    Force and intimidation

If you currently use these tools but want to transition off them, we can help!

Meet JJ, my office assistant

  • Obsessed with cheese (who isn’t)

  • Loves to yell, very demanding

  • Six years old but acts like she’s still a puppy

  • Honestly, not that great of an assistant. Can’t even make copies

  • Favorite artists are Taylor Swift and Phoebe Bridgers

  • I am 300% in love with her and she changed my life

"Logan has given us confidence to love our new life together.

Working with Logan has really allowed my dog and I to bond in a way that I don't think would have been possible otherwise. I would never have had the tools to take these small steps with Ella to build trust and safety in the way that works for her ... and most of the online guidance I found was very fear-based - which is not something that aligns with my personal values, especially with such a fearful dog.”

“Logan is an amazing trainer.

She is knowledgeable (and can show it with her qualifications/certifications!), compassionate to you and your dog, kind, supportive, and she makes sure to build a relationship with you and your dog. You can tell she genuinely wants to help. She uses up-to-date, science-based training methods, and never uses or even recommends any forms of aversive training. She is a lifesaver and a superhero.”
